This magnificent building is one of the oldest in Positano & was originally the holiday villa of Gioacchino Murat, the brother-in-law of Napoleone Bonaparte. He fell in love with Positano in the early 1800’s and founded this beautiful property. Today the lush gardens surrounding this wonderful palace along with its vicinity to the main beach are just two of its beautiful features.
Hotel History
In the early 1800s, this historic building was the holiday residence of Napoleon Bonaparte’s brother-in-law, the King of Naples, Joachim Murat. Built in the 17th century this glamorous building tucked away from the wars and chaos of the time, was almost impossible to access…… so became Murat’s haven and peaceful summer residence.
In the early 20th century Palazzo Murat was acquired by the enterprising Alfonso Cinque of Positano. After he returned as a wealthy businessman from America he made his initial acquisition- the ground floor of Palazzo Murat.
Generation after generation, floor after floor of this magnificent building were purchased by this family as their residence. By the 1960’s with the post war tourist boom and “la dolce vita” in full swing, the Palazzo Murat become the magnificent hotel it is today.

Special Superior – 30 sqm second floor, terrace side sea-view 990 euros a day
De-Luxe – 30 sqm top floor historic section, sea-views balcony 1200 euros a day
Special De-Luxe – 30 sqm Top floor historic section, two sea-view balconies. 1400 euros a day
Suite City View – 50 sqm historic section, terrace city view. 1200 euros a day
Suite Deluxe – 50 sqm historic section, sea-view balcony 1400 euros a day
Presidential Suite – 60 sqm historic section, big sea-view terrace 2800 euros a day
Rates are per room per day, including breakfast buffet, air conditioning, GST tax and services.
A minimum Stay of 3 nights is required.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellation fees do not apply if you cancel your booking 30 or more days prior to arrival.
